Overview
Yamato Mahoro (大和まほろ, Yamato Mahoro) is the mascot character of Yamato, Saga Prefecture. Mahoro-chan is mainly used as a tag.
She appeared around 1997. The town hall employee drew a moe character, which became a major topic of conversation on 2channel and other internet bulletin boards.
Nowadays, it is not unusual for municipalities to use moe characters as mascots, but at the time it was an unusual practice, and its impact on today's moe industry is by no means small. It is impossible to say whether Yamato Mahoro is the original, but there is no doubt that she left her name as a pioneer in the history of local moe mascots.
Yamato Town later became part of Saga City after the merger, and was active as the mascot of Saga City through merchandise, twitter, etc. However, as of 2015, the mascot has been inactive. She is currently being removed from pamphlets and other media. Currently, the mascot continues to be active on twitter, although unofficially, by posting new illustrations.
Appearance
Yamato Mahoro has long blue hair with silver cylindrical hair ornaments with red jewelry on the strands. She also has green eyes.
Her other attire comprise of a short sleeved white dress with a red band in the middle and yellow triangle patterns on the ends, a necklace with a green magatama on it, as well as wearing no shoes her appearance a more of a ancient history vibe.
