Overview
Local moe character (ご当地萌えキャラ) is a term that refers to all moe characters created by corporations and local governments for the purpose of promoting local communities.
There are also cases where characters from video games and television anime are used to promote the areas where their works are set, but these characters are often not called local character or local moe character.
When local moe characters are involved in events in the real world, cosplayers are mainly used.
