Overview
Off the Hook, Tentacles (テンタクルズ, Tentakuruzu) in Japan first appeared at the end of the Splatoon 2 Direct broadcast on July 6, 2017.
Based in Inkopolis Square, a new town where Inklings gather, they are a fast-growing unit that captivates young squids with their one-of-a-kind music and characters.
They are in charge of hosting the news and festivals, replacing the Squid Sisters, which appeared in the previous game.
While Squid Sisters was an idol group, this group is more artist-oriented, with a hip-hop style of music for the younger generation.
After finishing their news reports, they end with the signature line, "Don't get cooked... Stay off the hook!", in Japan as "Ink it up... Tentacle!!" (ぬりたく~る…テンタクル!!, Nuritakūru... Tentakuru!!)
One of the members, Marina Ida, is an Octarian, the sworn enemy of the squids in the first Splatoon game.
How did she, an octopus whose existence is known only to a limited number of people among the squids, form a pop idol group with Pearl Houzuki the squid and become a popular artist in Inkopolis Square? Well the whole story was revealed in Octo Expansion.
Since the icon that represents her proudly resembles an octopus, it appears that she is not hiding the fact that she is an Octarian.
