Denji (デンジ, Denji) started as a boy who worked as a non-regular devil hunter to pay off the debts of his father.
When he was being pressed by the yakuza to "pay back the money or pay with his life" for a debt left by his father who died when he was young, he meets Pochita, a chainsaw devil who was injured, and gives him blood to save him. At the same time, Pochita also makes a deal to help Denji and chooses to become a devil hunter to pay off his debt.
