Overview
Really scary Gensokyo (本当は怖い幻想郷, hontōha kowai Gensoukyou) is a tag for fan art of creepy and horror related art of Touhou Project. The setting of Gensokyo in the original work is described as an idyllic world of folktales and fairy tales, but it is also a very serious world where there is a possibility of death even if spell card rules are followed and where youkai are eating humans.
In the novel version of Touhou Bougetsushou,
"I realized that Gensokyo, where life and death are everyday life, is different from Lunar Capital."
In other words, Gensokyo without filters is a magical world.
Just as the fairy tales we are familiar with have hidden harshness and cruelty in their origin.
This tag is attached to illustrations depicting such a severe Gensokyo.
