Overview
Mudkip (ミズゴロウ, Mizugorou) is a Pokémon that first appeared in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire (3rd generation).
Their Japanese name probably comes from the combination of water (ミズ, mizu) and mudskipper (ムツゴロウ, mutsugorō).
They are one of the Hoenn three starters available in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald and the remake of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire at the start of the game.
Modeled after the mudskipper, thier head fins, which at first glance seem useless for swimming, are excellent radars with high sensitivity.
With these head fins, it senses the movement of water and air, and is able to see what is going on around it without using their eyes.
Perhaps because of this, it is reasonably sensitive, but in a Poké Ball, it does not like to be touched by its fins.
