Three starter Pokémon (ポケモン御三家) is a common name for the three Pokémon chosen at the beginning of the adventure in the Pokémon games.

    In monster training games, the first monster you get is often fixed, but the Pokémon series does not use such a format, but instead lets you choose from among three starter Pokémon (ポケモン御三家, Pokemon gosanke).


    In all generations, each Pokémon has one of the three types: fire, water, or grass. They are distinguished by players by the name of the region in which the Pokémon appeared in the first game of each generation.
