Overview
Pearl, known as Hozuki Hime (ホウズキ・ヒメ, Hōzuki Hime) in Japanese, is one of the Off the Hook members, a duo of artists appearing in Splatoon 2.
She is shorter than the other Inklings, giving him a cute impression, but despite her appearance, she is a crazy, tongue-tied genius rapper.
She has a characteristic look with a perfect balance of fearlessness and bad looks, which is quite difficult to reproduce in illustrations.
Etymology
Pearl's name literally refers to pearls, a hard glistening object seen very valuable, this name was most likely chosen to match the princess title she uses (literally being her name in Japanese) and her color theming is what most people think of a pearl color is.
Hime in her Japanese name Hozuki Hime (ホウズキ・ヒメ, Hōzuki Hime) literally means princess, part of her design is based off of Japanese princess. It is also close to Japanese word for northern pygmy squid (ヒメイカ, hime-ika). Hozuki is also close to a Japanese word, that being colossal squid (ダイオウホウズキイカ , daiōhōzukīka, lit. giant hozuki squid).
