Overview
Bubbline is a shipping/coupling term in derivative works for the characters Princess Bubblegum, the Candy Kingdom ruler, and Marceline, the vampire, from the Cartoon Network show Adventure Time.
Bubblegum × Marceline is Bubbline. In Japan, it often follows the Japanese slang terms of seme and uke depending on which comes first or second in the word, but overseas, where the word itself is more important, it does not mean such a position in particular.
It's a yuri coupling that is particularly popular in the derivative works of Adventure Time. They often clash with each other in the works, and are like quarreling friends.
In fact, the producers seem to like it so much that they talked about a scene in the tenth episode of season 3 (episode 32-A), "What Was Missing", that hints at a same-sex romance between the two. It has also been revealed that the writing staff was inspired by various fan activities, including this coupling.
The two are also often intertwined in the two hundred episode (or episode 101-B), "Varmints", and in Marceline's mini-series.
Final Episode
They kissed in the last episode and became an official couple. This work was broadcast for eight years; "What Was Missing", was broadcast in 2011, so it took about seven years for the two to get together.
Obsidian
In Adventure Time: Distant Lands, which describes the world after the final episode, it is revealed that they had been together (or close to it) "a long, long time ago" as well.
Their first relationship had been on the rocks for years after Marceline sang a certain (angry) song that infuriated Bubblegum and told her, "We're done".
It was a kind of traumatic for Marceline and Bubblegum, and they avoided even going near the glass kingdom that had caused it.
Years later once together again they had to go to the glass kingdom again.
In the end, as if to repaint a once angry song.
"I know we'll never grow old together
Cause you'll never grow old to me
You're the pink in my cheeks
And I'm scared cause that means I'm a little bit soft "
and presented the song of honest feelings and love for Bubblegum.
