Overview

Marceline (マーセリン) is a wild vampire queen who has lived for 1000 years. She likes to play the bass and often carries an axe-shaped bass guitar. She is ambidextrous like Finn. She currently lives in a house in a cave under a rotting road bridge, and her house has a couch that she rarely sits on and sound equipment for her guitar.

Background

Marceline's mother was a normal human. After the Mushroom War when Marceline was a child, she met and traveled with Simon (Ice King). At this time, Marceline is not yet a vampire, as she has no marks on her neck.

When young Marceline saw that Simon was going crazy every time he wore the crown, he promised her not to wear it anymore, but Simon wore it to protect her from the monster hordes, and gradually he became the Ice King today.

While Simon's ego remained for a while, he and the grown Marceline began to separate and parted ways.

Marceline became a vampire hunter, absorbing the vampires he defeated and gaining vampire powers.

Later, she wins a one-on-one battle with the Vampire King, the king of vampires, but the king bites her on the neck and she becomes an official vampire.

In Marceline's miniseries Stakes, after surrendering her throne, Marceline had Bubblegum remove their vampire powers and return to their human form, but the vampire energy stored in the bucket goes haywire in the middle of the night and the Vampire King, as well as the assassins under his command, are resurrected.

With the help of Finn and his friends, Marceline again defeats the vampire and gains power.

Personality

She can be mischievous and mean-spirited, and in the past was said to have been involved in misdeeds with her ghost friends. However, as Finn, who has joined her, describes her as "a pompous girl who just wants to look badass," she is a good person at heart who simply cannot be honest and hates having her true feelings known.

Abilities

She possesses abilities that go against the natural order of things, such as lighting candles, flying, becoming invisible, changing into bats and other monsters, and being immortal. She are not good at sunlight.

Even though she is a vampire, she does not necessarily need to draw blood, so she consumes red-colored food.

Red food turns white, and even white strawberries can be eaten without any problem.

Human blood is also red, but there is no description of Marceline turning it white. In the first place, Marceline does not suck human blood but confirmed by Pendleton Ward she does "sometimes" (1.).
