Ice King (アイスキング, Aisukingu) is the king and ruler of the Ice Kingdom...or rather, the people or creatures of the Ice Kingdom...are only penguins.

The penguins who live together in a castle built on a mountain of ice.

They are single and are looking for a marriage.

He kidnaps princesses from the neighboring areas and asks them to marry him.

In the show, he says that he is not interested in children, but in a collaborative campaign on Cartoon Network, he kidnapped a kindergartener and married her (citation needed).

In the early episodes, he appeared in the promised position of doing evil and being beaten up by Finn and Jake, but his own humanity and back story were later told.

Background

Today, the Ice King is the most disturbing old man on the Land of Ooo,

He was originally an ordinary man named Simon Petrikov (サイモン・ペトリコフ).

Simon, a man very knowledgeable about ancient relics and time theory, also had a fiancée named Betty Grof (ベティ・グロフ),

They lived happily together while conducting joint research, until one day he received a crown with mysterious powers.

This crown was an artifact that gave the wearer magical powers of ice.

But he feared that it would slowly erode his spirit and hurt the people around him.

He left his fiancée and began to wander alone.

A thousand years ago, while wandering alone in a desolate world, he met a girl named Marcy and protected her,

When surrounded by zombie-like creatures, he puts on the crown again to save her, knowing the cost. As a result, his spirit was completely eroded and he became the Ice King of today.

Since this event, though, he lost his memory and continued to live as the Ice King. Later, when Bella Noche took away his magical powers, he was able to temporarily return to his Simon form.

Personality

He is short-tempered, selfish, and moody. He is obsessed with madness. He will not know the situation, or you forget what you said the next moment.

He is not a decent person, but his origins, discussed above, is intertwined with his personality. He is not an evil person at heart, but has surprisingly good qualities in spite of his depressing personality.

He also has a strong musical and artistic talent.

In Season 3, he is writes fan fiction that is like a gender-reversal parallel world to the main story of Adventure Time, with female versions of Finn and Jake in this self-written work.

He is seriously looking for a way to meet them in real life.

The Crown

The crown was a "wish-fulfilling device" created by the mage Evergreen long before Simon's time. One day, a lizard boy named Gunther, who admired him, decided to become his apprentice.

Gunther, who admired his master's arrogance and power, put on this crown by chance, and the crown was distorted and became a wish-fulfillment device. The crown fulfills his wish in a distorted form and turns him into "a wizard as pompous as evergreen".

Thereafter, this crown becomes a cursed item that contains Gunther's residual thoughts. It gives the wearer the magical power of ice, but at the same time, it corrodes the spirit.

Relationships

Gunther

A penguin who is always with Ice King. They always annoyed by Ice King by their lack of attention. They gave birth to a cat. Ice King himself sometimes calls other penguins and strangers Gunther.

Neptr

A piece of junk that Finn built as a prank to get back at Jake. It rattled and moved, but Ice King brought it to life. Neptr adores Ice King as his father, but he took Finn's side. After that, Ice King stopped caring about Neptr.

Monster Wife

A synthetic creature created by cutting up the bodies of various princesses and piecing them together. She loved the Ice King with all her heart, but when she learned of her own disfigurement and origin, she despaired, and at the end of her life, she willingly returned each part to all the princesses.

Fionna

The protagonist of Ice King's fan fiction. She is a feminized version of Finn and loves Ice King.

Marceline

Spent time with Simon as a child. Loved him even though he turned into Ice King.

Betty

Simon's partner before the Mushroom War. When Simon regained consciousness, he opened a portal in time and summoned her to the Land of Ooo. She loves Simon but can't stand the Ice King.

Abracadaniel

A magician who manipulates rainbows. He is a kind man and enjoys creative dancing. He became a good friend through Finn's introduction.

Urgence Evergreen

A wizard in charge of the element of ice. He created a wish-fulfilling crown to prevent an icy comet from colliding with it. He is arrogant and dogmatic.
