Overview

Princess Bubblegum (プリンセス・バブルガム, Purinsesu Baburugamu), real name Bonnibel Bubblegum (ボニベル・バブルガム), is the ruler of the Candy Kingdom. She is skilled in science and technology and established the Candy Kingdom in her lifetime.

She rules over Candy, one of the four elements that govern the world: fire, ice, candy, and slime. She is one of the owners of the key gems of the Enchiridion, she differentiated from an intelligent slime mold after the Mushroom Wars.

Appearance

She usually wears a dark pink gown so long it reaches the floor. Her long pink is made of gum but sometimes her hairstyle changes.

She has many variations of clothing (all with pink in them).

Bald

One time Finn was exposed to a chemical in a boomerang-shaped bottle that he was throwing and playing with, which caused her to become hairless and green all over. At this time, she is wearing a suit containing the solution and riding out in a cart equipped with a bath of the solution. Jake saw Bubblegum laughing hysterically at the idea that it was the Duke of Nuts, he described her as "completely bonkers".

Lichening

When Ice King made a mistake and was dropped into a contaminated swamp, she became possessed by the Lich and her entire body was contaminated with radioactive material, causing her flesh to melt into a sludge. Once he returned to her original form, she used Finn for her to take in a large amount of dangerous substances and grew to a gigantic size and went on a rampage. When she was later frozen by the Ice King and collapsed, he looked like a dismembered corpse, but he escaped the disaster by becoming a younger girl, as described below.

Younger Form

When she was seriously injured and underwent surgery, she regressed in age (turned 13 years old) due to lack of body parts. She later took in a piece of the nation's flesh (candy) and returned to her original form.

Facial Mutilation

Ice King had cut off part of her face. She had no jaw, and her tongue, which had lost its place, hung slackly. She was out of rhythm from beginning to end, and in a sense, it was a must-see.

Zombie

She was bitten by candy people and turned into a zombie because of a zombie drug she created herself.

Personality

She loves science, and often locks herself up in her laboratory in her castle to create various things. She is very curious and conducts various experiments, which sometimes result in trouble. She loves the candy people and often holds events to entertain them.

Scientific Side

Bubblegum is a science-oriented person who believes that magic is absurd and that all magic can be explained by science (though she did not say so in the beginning). When she goes to Wizard City at the request of the candy people, she gets into an argument with the chief of the wizards and is even punished for it.

Princess Role

She is a realist who puts the safety of her people first and is willing to sacrifice the few for the many if necessary.

When she considered the newborn Flame Princess a threat to the kingdom, she negotiated with the Flame King to confine her in a small lamp, and when she manipulated the Flame Kingdom's underground resources to neutralize weapons of mass destruction, the Flame Princess discovered her manipulations and the two became bitter for a time. She even tried to torture the Ice King to cure a plague.

However, she is trusted by the people, and although she once lost an election and abdicated her position as Princess, she has regained her throne thanks to the people's support.

Abilities

Science

She is highly knowledgeable and skilled, and has stabilized the lives of the people with her various inventions, but her research and inventions often lead to trouble.

Life science is her forte, and she has created a variety of candy life forms (although things often don't go as planned, such as the Lemongrabs and Goliad).

Military Strength

She protects the safety of her kingdom with two guards and guardsmen, and is capable of fighting countless monsters and giant demons using chemical weapons.

She is also a high king who has gone to the front lines to fight invaders of the kingdom, and once rescued Finn and Jake when they were kidnapped by the Ice King. When the Vampire King went out of control, she also rescued the trapped residents.

Transformation

Bubblegum is made of gum and can transform into various forms as well as changing age appearance. In each case, she returns to her original form in later episodes.

Candy Kingdom

Her kingdom where buildings, people, and even the ground are made of candy. The townscape is reminiscent of medieval times, but has been partially modernized with sewage and power grids. Numerous surveillance cameras are installed without the residents' knowledge.

It is protected by two guards equipped with powerful laser cannons. It is also equipped with powerful cannons and scientific barriers, which are used when a powerful enemy appears.

The police are manned by banana guards. The gumball guard used to take the place of the banana guard. Most of them were disposed of by Bubblegum because they were too violent, but the last one is still working as an agent of the Princess.
