F-Zero (エフゼロ, Efu Zero) is a racing game series set in the future by Nintendo as well as the title of its first game. The first game was released in Japan on November 21, 1990, in North America in August 1991, and in Europe in 1992. The game is part of the Launch titles for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and, along with Pilotwings, was the first extensive use of the Graphic Mode 7.
The F-Zero series as seen sequels in F-Zero X for the Nintendo 64 F-Zero GX for the GameCube, and F-Zero: Maximum Velocity and F-Zero: GP Legend for the Game Boy Advance.
An adjacent animated series was also released, airing from Oct 7th, 2003 to September 28th, 2004.
F-Zero is set in the 26th century when a new form of racing emerges from the development of anti-gravity systems. A Grand Prix is organized around this new exciting sport, attracting all sort of pilots wishing to carve their name in history.
