Overview
Jirachi (ジラーチ, jira-chi) is a small, while humanoid Pokémon. On its head is a large, yellow structure that is shaped like a star. There are 3 blue tags on each sharp end of its head, known as a "wish tag". On its belly, there's a third eye, known as its "true eye". (Normally closed, only opens when attacking opponent)
Jirachi hibernates for a thousand year, forming a protective crystalline shell as it sleeps, but it is still capable of fighting while asleep if it is in danger.
Jirachi awakens for a week every thousand year, but can also waken if sung to by a voice of purity. During that periods, Jirachi is said to be able to grant wishes. However, Jirachi's wish granting ability has its limitation, as shown in Jirachi: Wish Maker.
Games
Main Game Series
In the main game series, Jirachi first appears in Ruby and Saphirre.
Its ability, Serence Grace, will double the chance of a move having an additional effect. This, at least in pre-generation VI games, allow Jirachi to do powerful attack with the Iron Head move (a move that can be learn by TM/HM in pre-generation VI games).
However, Jirachi has a weakness; despite being a steel/psychic types, it has less physical attack moves as it relies more on psychic moves. This made worse with generation VI games, where Jirachi cannot learn the Iron Head move.
As Jirachi is a event-only Pokémon, it can be only brought through events and trades. In Japan, it is usually can be brought in Tanabata-related events.
Its signature move is Doom Desire.
Other Games
Jirachi appears in Super Smash Bros. series as a Pokéball Pokémon.
Jirachi also appears in Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon as one of the Expedition Society's member lead by Ampharos and is a astronomer. While it asleep, it doesn't awaken easily and is having the terrible sleeping posture.
