Overview
Sonic Rush (ソニック ワールドアドベンチャー Sonikku Rasshu) is the first publish Sonic title for the Nintendo DS. It was developed by Dimps, a company that previous worked on the Sonic Advance games. The game is a 2D platform game with some 3D elements that uses button controls.
The character Blaze the Cat makes her first appearance in this title. The story unfolds from both Sonic and Blaze's perspectives.
Gameplay
While the basic controls are the same as in previous Sonic games, the addition of new actions such as grind, trick boosting, and others adds a new level of exhilaration to the game.
One of the novelties unique to the DS is the dynamic presentation of the game, in which the player moves back and forth between the two screens during a stage. This effect is difficult to convey in the demo video, but on the actual device, the player moves their gaze up and down, which makes it feel even more dynamic.
Music
Sonic's music has developed a strong image of rock sound since Sonic Adventure, but Hideki Naganuma composed the music for this title giving it a much different tone. The groovy sound of Naganuma's music is one of the charms of this work.
