Overview

Sonic the Hedgehog (ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ Sonikku za Hejjihoggu), commonly referred to as Sonic 2006 or Sonic '06 by fans is a 2006 platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. The game also used to be called as Sonic Next-Gen, also by fans. In Japan it is commonly refer as New Sonic (新ソニ Shinsoni), and as the name suggest, this game was designed to be a new era of the Sonic series. It was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Sonic.

Fans tend to see this as the third title in the Sonic Adventure series for having similar elements.

When the teaser site was released, fans were shocked by a realistic human character that looked like they appeared in a certain other game and the realistically designed appearance of Dr. Eggman.

The story is also the darkest and most depressing in not only in the Sonic Adventure series, but the Sonic series in general. Words such as "let him die" and "kill" and many other deeds caused by the resultant foolishness of mankind and human intentions are shown. Not only that but the last story has a certain character get murdered by another character.

It is surprising that the game is rated for all ages.
