Overview

Sonic Adventure (ソニックアドベンチャー Sonikku Adobenchā) acts as the first 3D action game in the Sonic series and served as the basis for subsequent titles. This was also the first game to feature voice acting for many of the characters. Released as the centerpiece software for the Dreamcast, it sold more than 2 million copies worldwide.

One of the most notable features of this title was the final redesigns of Sonic and other characters by Yuji Uekawa. For example, Sonic was taller, his legs were longer, his hands were laid back, and the irises of his eyes were green. This design would be followed in subsequent works.

On October 14, 1999, Sonic Adventure International (ソニックアドベンチャー インターナショナル Sonikku Adobenchā Intānashonaru) in Japan was released with support for five languages, network ranking, etc. On June 2003, a redesigned version of this game, Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut was released on the GameCube. The director's cut was released in Japan on June 19, 2003 as Sonic Adventure Deluxe (ソニックアドベンチャー デラックス Sonikku Adobenchā Derakkusu).

In 2010, the game was made available for download for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
