Overview

Sanic (サニック Sanikku) is an internet meme of a poorly drawn Sonic the Hedgehog made by a fan. The meme is so popular that it was referenced in a official form.

History

He was drawn during late September 2012 on MS paint by 0nyxheart who posted the illustration in a How To video style onto YouTube. The original video itself was title How 2 Draw Sanic Hegehog.

Although it was not a hot topic in Japan, its appearance had a strong impact overseas, beyond the surrealistic, and due in part to the high popularity of the Sonic series overseas, it has established a unique popularity, with numerous fan art appearing.

It's official!?

Then, at the end of November 2017, he appeared in Sonic Forces on a T-shirt for the avatar as free DLC.
