This witch...rides a Gundam
Overview
Mobile Suit Gundam: the Witch from Mercury (機動戦士ガンダム水星の魔女, Kidō Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo) or G-Witch is a mecha anime television series from the Gundam franchise, which started airing in October 2022. Prior to the broadcast, the prequel PROLOGUE was released July 14, 2022.
It is the first new TV animation work in five and a half years since the previous Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans was broadcast, and also the first new Gundam in 2022.
It is broadcast on Mainichi Broadcasting System and other broadcasters.
On March 29, 2022, a teaser PV was released, revealing a visual of the main character and the lead MS XVX-016 Gundam Aerial.
At the same time, it was announced that the main character would be female, making it the first female protagonist in a TV series. It will be a school story about five boys and girls.
Plot
The story is set during the year 122 A.S. (Ad Stella).
It takes place at the Asticassia School of Technology, where the protagonist Suletta Mercury is transferred.

Glossary
- Ad Stella (アド・ステラ)
The calendar year used in the work. The relationship to the A.D. is so far unknown. The date of the main story is A.S. 122.
- Front
A space settlement built on an asteroid. The equivalent of a space colony in previous works.
A term referring to people living in space and people living on Earth, respectively. They are equivalent to the Spacenoids and Earthnoids of the Universal Century.
The Earthians are economically and labour exploited by the Spacians, and some Spacians tend to regard the Earthians as a lower social class and treat them in a discriminatory manner. The Earthians who are treated in this way also regard the Spacians as enemies, and the situation is fraught with conflict, with demonstrations calling for the correction of disparities and the improvement of social circumstances, and the mobilisation of security forces accompanied by MSs.
- Permet (パーメット)
A new element found in ores mined in the solar system. It has the property of sharing information between Permets, which makes it a cornerstone of new technological systems. It used to be mined on Mercury, but in recent years it is also being extracted on the Moon.
- Benerit Group (ベネリットグループ)
A megacorporation that is the largest player in the mobile suit development industry. Headed by Delling Rembran as president, it is run by a number of companies, including the three companies known as the 'Three Families': Jeturk Heavy Machinery, Grassley Defence Systems and Peil Technologies.
- Mobile Suit Development Council (モビルスーツ開発評議会)
A trade self-regulatory organisation made up of companies in the mobile suit industry. It strictly prohibits the diversion of GUND technology to weapons and has its own enforcement powers.
- Cathedra (監査組織カテドラル)
An audit organisation under the Mobile Suit Development Council. The supervising representative is Delling Rembran. It has a special forces unit, the Dominicos Corps, transferred from the Council and is recognised as an elite course for prospective pilots.
- Asticassia School of Technology (アスティカシア高等専門学園)
A school within the Front where the story takes place. A pilot training school run by the Benerit Group. It also serves as a place for operational testing of mobile suits and is under the group's strong influence. There are dormitories on campus named after the various companies, and each dormitory has its own elite pilots.
Students can be of Spacian or Earthian origin, which has led to no small amount of conflict on campus.
- GUND-ARM (GUND-ARM)
Mobile suits equipped with the GUND Format, which converts the GUND technology used to adapt humans to space into weapons control. This is a controversial technology where all development plans have been banned by the Council due to the fact that the Permet inflow value to the pilot tends to be higher than that of ordinary mobile suits and the strong load imposed by data storms.
