Overview編集

Sonic Colors (ソニックカラーズ Sonikku Karāzu) or Sonic Colours in British English is a 2010 platformer and action-adventure video game for the Sonic series developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. The Nintendo DS release was done by Dimps with Sonic Team's input.

Synopsis編集

When Dr. Eggman's creates a amusement park in space, Sonic and Tails visit the place to investigate. When there, they learn about Wisps, a race of aliens being used by Dr. Eggman for their energy. Together, they free the Wisps and try to stop Dr. Eggman and his park.

Setting編集

The game takes place in a space theme park built with asteroids collected by Dr. Eggman and connected by an orbital elevator. In the Wii version, you can listen to Dr. Eggman's park announcements, which he says he thought up without sleeping, and they are all chaotic, so listen carefully.

Also, the Wii version's instruction manual is designed to look like a theme park pamphlet, which gives it a playful feel.

The script is by Ken Pontac, who was in charge of the Wii version's story, and the comical cutscenes have divided opinions, but this is a change of course to writing a script not for the Japanese market as before, but for people overseas to communicate in a unique way, a reverse phenomenon that is like a Japanese translation localization of a Western game work (even though it was born in Japan), so to speak.

As can be seen from the difference in pre-order benefits discussed below, Sonic's popularity is overwhelmingly overseas, both in terms of name recognition and game sales, and is not comparable to Japan, so it can be said that it was inevitable that this treatment was taken. However, although Ken Pontac's attitude toward Sonic is seen as problematic, it will not go into it here, so we ask that you look into it individually.
