Splatoon* (スプラトゥーン, Supuratūn) is a third-person shooter video game franchise from Nintendo. It is a game that belongs to the so-called "person vs. person gun shooting" genre, but the objective is not to defeat the opponent.
The team shoots ink from a hand-held weapon, and the ink is colored to the team's color. It is what is called a battle for position.
The rules of the main mode, Turf War, are quite simple: the team with the most area covered by spraying ink of the team's color onto the field wins.
The game lowered the bar for the third-person shooter genre by allowing even those with poor aim (aiming) skills to contribute to the team's victory by simply shooting at random, and at the same time, the bright atmosphere and immorality of using water guns to apply ink literally changed the bloody nature of the third-person shooter genre.

- Splatoon 2 was also release again in physical on October 8, 2021 with Octo Expansion for Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
- DLC for Splatoon 3 is stated to be planned for the game with the Off the Hook cast.
