Man, I wish I had better energy right now. Sorry for the delay! (Especially for those of you who prefer pixiv; the last two stories were Book of the Dryads, which isn't even here yet!) Hopefully I can get something for next week... Anyway, we get more of a fluffy chapter that draws Melody and Alex into the friend group established in Embrace of the Ocean! Seems Alex and Melody fit right in. And with the surprise appearance of the ancient kitsune hero, Frua, "the five" has suddenly jumped to "the eight!" We also get more details, including how merfolk work... Which is mildly terrifying. As is Haylie. But there's another "monster" out there, another DMR branch head? Well, I plan on EVENTUALLY covering these in comic stories. Along with a question of "why is Roland at CHU instead of Fireleaf Hills at this time in the story?" Yeah, I'll get to it eventually... And we got another reference to the story that got me going, as well as another from the same artist! (While Rain is done, My Impossible Soulmate is still in progress.) A potent mix of toxic ideology and ruthlessness makes them a clear threat to the magic people we've seen in my stories. And then the shocking twist of Haylie - Ariel's mom - knowing some form of dark magic. She when from unpleasant to dangerous quickly. It might explain why no one has been able to take her in for all of her crimes... But don't worry, I made sure this isn't the end - or all of the story I'd upload at this time! Becoming a Dream - Chapter 5: Being a Hero
This is it, the ending to Melody and Alex's origin story! And I admit I have some good feelings about this particular chapter. Taking place in February 2024, we meet Tasha, a demigirl mermaid whose family has been struggling with her transformations alone for some time... Melody and Alex intervene, and help grow the young girl's confidence. ... Wait, transformationS? Indeed, we've actually seen Tasha before; she is from the epilogue scene of Curse Upon the New Moon, the demigirl whose parents were desperate enough to help her achieve her identity that they found a carnival wizard to help her. It seems her life has taken a strange (and rough) turn in the couple years since we last saw her. But now with this story, Curse Upon the New Moon finally is shown to be a part of the overall Behind the Veil storyline (and where the events fit into it all). Meanwhile, I have new future plans for Tasha and her family; we WILL see her again! As we will Melody and Alex. This is simply the end of their origin story - like everyone else, they can and will pop up again! I am the author of this work and the creator of these characters and concepts. I couldn't leave it on Chapter 2. I had to make sure these two were okay after all of THAT! I decided to place this story around Christmas when I realized I would be uploading this story around then. A nice, fun story about sticking together for the holidays! Meanwhile, we have the return of Eris and now Gwen. We also see the true form of Darronavarr in my first REAL introduction of dragons, a long time coming, honestly. We also get a first look at the mysterious George of the FBI, now having his backstory. Seems he's a humble man trying to make up for his past (even though he's likely done well more than that already - but forgiving yourself is no easy task at times). There will be more after this. In time... (Unless you're seeing this after I finish the next parts, in which case you can ignore this!) This story was born of an odd gender dysphoria incident I had weeks ago, an intense desire to look almost anime girl like. After that faded, this idea came to me! Melody was so closeted before because she always wanted to be an anime girl, but she thought it was unachievable.
