英語。他動詞として、「委任する」、「任命する」、「依頼する」、「発注する」といった意味、名詞として、「委託」、「委任」、「職務」、「権限」といった意味である。
日本語の「仕事絵」、「依頼絵」等のタグとほぼ同じ意味である。
ただし、日本語で「仕事絵」と言えばほぼ商業出版の仕事絵を指すのに対し、海外ではアマチュアが有償で絵の依頼を受け付けるシステムが発達しており、commissionタグは必ずしも商業出版を意味しない。
