About

A tough traveling warrior who is something of a deuteragonist or secondary main heroine to the story. She has cool brown skin, purple eyes, and long silver hair she wears in a ponytail. Her costume is the sort of armor bikini one might expect to see in an RPG from the late 80s or early 90s.

Unable to sit by and watch as Garlot and his Blaze Vigilantes' recklessness endangers their lives, Medoute steps in to rescue them, but when they immediately try to chase their enemy she gives them a harsh dose of reality, calling them weak amateurs who've only survived out of luck and forcing them to admit they would have died if not for her help. Her words awaken Garlot to the necessity of acting wisely, but hurt him deeply at the same time.

Seeing Garlot half in tears at her criticism, Medoute gives Siskier and Jenon some tactical advice as an apology and goes on her merry way.

Yet when she encounters Garlot and his friends later, she learns that they have accepted a job offer from local landgrave Velleman in order to gain the strength they need to realize their ideals. Medoute realizes how much her words have influenced their choice, and decides to stay with them to take responsibility. Afterwards, she takes on a senpai role to Garlot and his friends, and uses her experience traveling the world to teach them.

Medoute has a calm and mature personality and is a pragmatist. She has traveled around the world by boat and has visited 30 different countries on her journeys, and uses her rich life experiences and the knowledge she's earned to support Gram Blaze.

She is very sisterly and good at looking after people, but she says that because she originally left her homeland to escape her responsibilities, she has mixed feelings about taking on new responsibilities now.

Medoute's interests are somewhat masculine, and she's so enamored with travel that on shopping trips she can be found making googly eyes over armor and travel rations. Siskier picks on her for this, putting Medoute in a noticeably foul temper.

Relationships

Medoute is well-trusted by her allies, and acts as a sort of secondary commander to Gram Blaze who takes the lead when Garlot isn't around. She's in charge of lecturing the party on topics relevant to their missions, and also scolding people who need a good talking-to.

Medoute often interacts with Garlot, Siskier, and Jenon; in scenes featuring all four characters, she and Jenon tend to speak from rationality where Garlot and Siskier are more likely to get emotional. While she has one-on-one scenes with all three of them, she's most often observed talking with team leader Garlot (partially because he usually needs her lectures most); although Medoute is usually the one advising her friends, eventually she comes to open up to Garlot about her own worries.

While Siskier admires Medoute, she doesn't put Medoute on a pedestal and the two are friendly with one another. While Medoute is sometimes put off-kilter by Siskier, she seems to think of Siskier as "cute".

During her first meeting with Jenon, Medoute ignores his attempts at flirting with a straight face and even gets his name wrong twice, but she supplements his book knowledge with her street smarts to dial Garlot and Siskier in on what they need to know, and seems to get along with Jenon well as they're both realists. In addition to this, she and Jenon work as a team in the A route.

Medoute is very polite to her employer Velleman, and when Siskier is amused by this, Medoute rebuts that this is what everyone should be doing. Also, because Medoute is much more mature than the Tiera Trio, Velleman seems to find her easier to talk to than Garlot.

As with Jenon, Medoute often takes on the straight man role to Byff's funny man, and calls him "Fuzzy".

Finally, when the party first meets Nessiah Medoute seems wary of him for some reason, but once he's formally joined Gram Blaze she either comes to trust him or is very good at hiding her wariness. She seems impressed by his ability level as a strategist.

In Combat

Medoute wields a giant axe as her weapon.

Her ATK and TEC both grow quickly, but her GEN is rather low until she hits level 14. She gains levels at an average pace. Her final stats are 4/6/6/4 for a total of 20, like the four major players of Yggdra Union.

While she has the usual Ax Battler class trait of "Advantage on wasteland terrain", she does not have the typical class weakness to ice; instead she has the unique trait "Chance of heavy counterattack".

In Blaze Union, she is the only character who can use the skill Dragon Killer, which maxes out her battle advantage against dragon-type opponents.

There are spoilers for all routes of Blaze Union below.

Spoilers

Medoute is a descendant of the Hero Gill, the dragonslayer who slew Brongaa in ancient times. She was born and raised in Lost Aries.

She was raised on the legends of Gill's exploits, and taught both the ways of the dragonslayer and a strong prejudice against Brongaa's people.

However, Medoute became annoyed at her grandfather for his obsession with their family's past glory, and grew to question the purpose of being a dragonslayer in the modern day. She became dismissive of her supposed duty as a dragonslayer, and eventually abandoned her family legacy to travel the world instead.

The reason that she seems wary of Nessiah at their first meeting is because she subconsciously recognizes him as Grim Angel Aries, who gave the Hero Gill his powers and worked together with him to stop Brongaa in the ancient past.

During the events of the A route, Gulcasa narrowly avoids breaking down under the despair of Velleman's betrayal and Siskier's death by clinging to his powers as Brongaa's descendant. As he aims for a revolution by the power of his blood, Medoute becomes suspicious of him, and recruits Jenon to monitor him and see whether or not Gulcasa's power is affecting his personality.

The night after the coup succeeds, Medoute witnesses a private moment between Gulcasa, who collapses in a deadly fever from overusing his powers, and Nessiah, who arrives to rescue him. Nessiah recommends offering the life of a soldier to Brongaa in Gulcasa's place to save him, but Gulcasa refuses point-blank to harm an ally. Nessiah reminds Gulcasa that as the new Emperor he is now responsible for the whole country and his life no longer belongs to Gulcasa alone. Touched by Nessiah's desperate cry of "I cannot lose you now," Gulcasa is unable to argue. He reluctantly uses his skill Genocide to offer up a human sacrifice... and climaxes when doing so. Drunk on his own power, Gulcasa is left in an incredibly suggestible state, and Nessiah stays by his side to care for him... but as Nessiah has his own agenda, he takes advantage of Gulcasa's vulnerable state of mind to plant the idea of world conquest in his head.

Having witnessed this shocking exchange from beginning to end, Medoute lies in wait until Gulcasa is alone. Gulcasa, shaken by his first brush with Brongaa's fever, tries to convince himself that he'll be alright, and Medoute confronts him, claiming he's too far gone. Both as a dragonslayer and as Gulcasa's friend, she attempts to kill him.

Medoute and Gulcasa have a fierce battle and an even fiercer argument, but Gulcasa's friends arrive to back him up, and so Medoute is quickly defeated and restrained. Gulcasa pleads for the chance to reconcile, but Medoute rejects him.

Nessiah offers to execute Medoute (as well as Jenon, who sides with her) himself to spare the reluctant Gulcasa from having to kill them with his own hands, but Gulcasa turns Nessiah down and has the pair thrown in an easily escapable jail, effectively letting Medoute and Jenon go free without punishment.

After this, Medoute and Jenon (as well as Sleip, Byff, and Eater) leave Bronquia. Jenon believes that Gulcasa has changed so much that Garlot is effectively dead, but Medoute believes that though Gulcasa is struggling with his demon blood, his ideals and compassionate nature have not changed. She admits that she might have been mistaken to betray him, but says that she still wanted to stop Gulcasa for fear of how much he will lose if he continues down this path.

In the B route, Medoute is similarly suspicious of Emilia after the latter unseals her own blood, but rather than consulting Jenon, in this route she goes to Garlot about it. However, Garlot empathizes with Emilia's desire for power, and doesn't take Medoute's warning particularly seriously.

If the player overuses Emilia and thus triggers the route's bad ending, Medoute tells the party that the only way to stop Emilia now is to kill her, and turns her blade against Emilia.

As Garlot is left severely depressed and directionless by the events of this ending, Medoute brings him along on her journey and takes care of him.

In both the A and B routes, Medoute is pained by her seemingly inescapable destiny as a dragonslayer, and wonders whether her meeting with Gulcasa and Emilia was fated or happenstance.

But in the C route, when Medoute opens up about her past and bloodline to her friends, she seems to have found an answer that satisfies her.
